The Story of the Rainbow...
TheraFit Gym for the Disabled is the fruition of a dream that was borne of a disaster. In 2002 Richard Ayres suffered a near-fatal automobile accident that left him paralyzed and in a coma. Richard's family was told by his doctors that they should "let him go" – remove him from life support and let him die. The family, including his sister – TheraFit founder Gina Gilligan – was not comfortable with this advice, and they prayed throughout the night that God's hand would guide their decision-making; they asked God for a sign. The next day dawned sunny and bright – but when the family opened the curtains they saw a rainbow in the Baltimore sky above the hospital. Knowing that rainbow was God's sign to them, they took Richard home and began the process that led to his miraculous progress and the birth of TheraFit Gym for the Disabled.
